Marsh Valley Joint School District # 21
Arimo, Idaho 83214
Dear
Parent:
The Board of Education and the
school administration share an equal concern with the parents regarding the
safe transportation of children to and from school. Our drivers are carefully selected and our safety record in the
past has been outstanding. We wish to
do everything possible to maintain this splendid record. You can help us immeasurably in our efforts
by becoming aware of bus safety rules and making sure your children understand
them.
Discipline on the bus is enforced
with the use of tickets and/or bus conduct reports. Drivers will issue a bus conduct report after a documented
warning ticket or when the offense is serious enough in the driver’s opinion to
be dangerous or a breach of the driver’s authority. The student will have a maximum of two school days after a
bus conduct report has been issued until it is returned to the driver and the
principal with the appropriate signatures or student will not be permitted to
ride.
Bus
Warning Ticket:
1st Disciplinary Concern- The student will receive a
warning ticket after verbal warnings do not correct behavior. The driver will
issue the ticket to the student and contact the parent or guardian to inform
them of the problem. A copy will be forwarded to the principal.
Bus
Conduct Report:
1.
1st Disciplinary Offense-
Student shall be assigned a seat for a minimum of (5) five days. The
driver, principal will meet for a conference. The parent/guardian shall
be notified of this action
and the report will be sent home to be signed and returned to the driver
within two school days
or student will not be permitted to ride.
2.
2nd Disciplinary Offense-The student, parents, principal and bus driver
will meet for a conference and student may be suspended from riding any bus for
up to one week.
3.
3rd Disciplinary Offense- The student, parents, principal and bus
transportation representative (s) will meet for a conference and student may be
suspended from riding any bus for the remainder of the school year.
4. In case of a serious infraction, the school district
has the right at any time to permanently deny bus-riding privileges to a
student.
Included is a copy of our bus rules,
which come to us from state law / regulations and the local Board of
Education. Since all students will be
bus riders, either to and from school or on field and activity trips, and many
of them must travel long distances, it is imperative for their safety and
comfort that they understand and follow these rules.
Please help your child’s bus driver
successfully perform his or her highly responsible task.
