Classroom Newsletter From Mrs. Parsons September 4, 2007 Book Order: Last week a book order was sent home. It was due on August 30th. My students said they need more time to look at the book order. Therefore, the due date has been changed to September 6, 2007. Please make your checks payable to Scholastic Book Club. Thank you! Phone Calls: If you need to contact be, please call school at 775-3361. Please call during work hours from 8:00 a.m. - 4:15 p.m. Your phone call is very important to me! When I get a break I will return your phone call. We have been advised to receive calls at school and not home. I appreciate your cooperation in this matter. Thank you! Yellow Folders: The yellow folder is sent home every week. (Usually on a Monday.) This folder needs to be returned the next school day. Students may receive a bug award if folders are returned weekly. Please sign the form indicating that you have looked at your child's papers for the week. Positives, Positives, Positives!!!! The bean jar is about full! The class and individual students may earn a bean for good behavior. About 120 beans have been earned. It is almost full! After it is full students will be rewarded with a root beer float party! This party will be some time this week. Your children are great to work with! Thanks so much for the positive support from home! Many students have also earned Bug Awards. (being unusually good) Every 2-3 weeks there will be a classroom drawing for good behavior. Over Back To School Night: Thanks so much for coming to Back to School Night! It was so good to get acquainted with you! It's going to be a great year! I appreciate all of the volunteers that signed up to help with parties. Many parents also volunteered to help in the classroom during the week. I greatly appreciate all the support you give me as a teacher! Spelling: On short weeks, (when there are three days of school) we will study high frequency words. These are words that should be spelled correctly all the time in your child's writing. Following is a list of high frequency words for this week: 1. sea 11. himself 2. against 12. usually 3. top 13. money 4. turned 14. seen 5. learn 15. didn't 6. point 16. car 7. city 17. morning 8. play 18. I'm 9. toward 19. body 10.five 20. upon Accelerated Reading: Most students have set their A.R. goal for the month of September. There are a few students who still need to set their goal! If your child has not made their A.R. goal you will need to fill in the information at the bottom of this page. Please take time to set this A.R. goal with your child. If I don't receive anything back by Sept. 6, your child and I will make the goal together.
