Title IX

What is Title IX?

Title IX is a part of a federal civil rights Law (Title IX of the Education Amendments) passed in 1972, that protects people from discrimination based on sex in education programs or activities

Title IX states:

No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.

Title IX Can Protect Against

  • Discrimination based on gender

  • Sexual Harrassment

  • Pregnancy discrimination

  • Retaliation

  • Bullying/Cyber-Bulling when is involves sexual misconduct

  • Hazing when it involves sexual misconduct

Filing a Complaint

Students, employees, or other members of the District community who believe that they have been subjected to sex or gender -based harassment, discrimination, or retaliation should report the incident to the Title IX Coordinator, who will provide information about supportive measures and the applicable grievance procedure . Violations of this District procedure or its related policy may result in discipline to either students or employees.
